Pakistan captain Salman Butt said his players must work hard to eradicate the fielding errors which cost his side in their second-Test defeat by England.
The tourists fell to a nine wicket-defeat at Edgbaston and Butt was left to rue missed catches on day four, including three off Andrew Strauss. "We have got to work on the fielding and try harder. We dropped four catches again today," said Butt.
"If we had held all of our catches it would have been a pretty even game."
Pakistan's fielding has been poor throughout the series and things got no better for Butt's side on Monday.
England could have been 17-2 early on when off-spinner Saaed Ajmal, with only his third ball, induced an edge from Strauss but debutant wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider could not hold the tough catch.
The errors prevented Pakistan getting back into the game but they will have the opportunity to work on their fielding in a two-day match against Worcestershire on 13 August before the third Test gets underway at The Oval on 18 August.
Pakistan had made 72 in the first innings, their lowest score against England, leaving them on the back-foot from the start of the second Test.
However, after slumping to 94-5 in their second innings, a remarkable rally from Haider (88) and Ajmal (50) took Pakistan to 291-9.
They eventually fell for 296 on day four but Butt was upbeat after his side showed encouraging signs.
"As the game goes on the guys show glimpses of where they can be in the future, they just have to work hard and be patient," said Butt.
"We as players have to back each other up and try harder."
